Post by mz53480 »

Here's a link to the video I took this last Sat. at Sund Rock (south end). Vis was great, ~20-25' or more in places.

Still fairly silty on the bottom, but only a problem if you stir it up real hard.

silt is always a problem on the canal...
20-25ft seems normal
hope Tim and I can get out there this weekend.

20-25 would be GREAT!! Last few times I've been there it was 10 or so. A legitimate 25 would be fantastic. I've seen it about 40' one time... so amazing I surfaced laughing and shouting in sheer delight. When you can actually see, the life is astounding! That was the dive when NWScubamom was going in as we were coming out and said with a knowing grin, "Ah, Aquarium dive, huh!?" Absolutely!

With the silt from last winter's storms it's more important than ever to exercise good buoyancy control and not plough up the bottom. The cloud will not go away for awhile.... :axe:

Agree 100% on the bouyancy control comment.
It really makes a difference when trying to take pics and video. You know... when all of a sudden....BLAM--here comes another diver (usually not your buddy) and they hit bottom or give you a nice pass w/ a non-frog kick of the fins.....then it's just time to move on to another spot. Takes forever to settle down....
