Pictures from Koh Chang, Thailand

Post by Huskychemist »

One more attempt at posting some pictures from Thailand...I'm not sure this is worth it, but what the heck.

A few weeks ago, I spent a week with my family on vacation on Koh Chang. It's an island off the coast of Thailand near Cambodia. Getting to the island requires a ferry ride (with a ferry that looked surpisingly like a WA State Ferry, but not quite as plush). The island is overdeveloped in places, but still has some quaint "old-world" flavor, including more of the same gracious attitude towards us farang that I've found all over Thailand.

The diving itself was pretty decent. Certainly the critters and visibility were all better than my local dives in Pattaya. I got five dives in, including a night dive.

A full trip report with more pictures can be found here.

A few of the better pictures are below:

One of the highlights of the diving was spotting this GIANT puffer fish at a cleaning station. It had a few cleaner wrasse swimming around it picking stuff from its skin. One of the wrasse emerged from its gill opening. Very cool sight!

My diving will be normal local diving in Pattaya until December when I take a family vacation to Australia. I hope to get a few dives in while I'm there. But the highlight of my future diving will be a trip to Lembeh in June next year. I can't wait!

Until next time, happy and safe diving.
Happy Diving!

Where is the green water in the background? Are you photoshopping your photos now?

Oh wait, those are warm water wussie pictures. I guess we can excuse that.

Thanks for keeping us up-to-date with the diving in that part of the world.

Hehehe. I forgot to add my disclaimer about photoshop. Nope, I still don't use photoshop. (Although I did have two people on a recent dive trip in Pattaya try to convince me that it's a good thing.) And no cropping here either. (Although I am willing to crop. I just didn't here.)

As for the WWW comment...I guess I can almost qualify for WWW status, given I actually turned us around at Keystone this summer before turnaround pressure because I was cold. Of course, that was the first time that I had EVER turned us around...due to being cold.
Happy Diving!
