Snow Monkey

Post by Romer Treece »

The 14th KenG and I went out for a morning monkey dive before partaking in wreck porn night back at Kens. Snow was on the ground, it was the first time with my camera on the Cuda, a new lens, and exploration on our minds. The vis was okay for the lake (about 4-5 feet) and we had a blast! We even found an old school anchor which we will be going back for. At times I couldn't see Ken at all but it was amazing I could see him (almost) clear as day on my camera monitor. Good times. \:D/

There are plenty of anchors to go around. The lake seems to be full of them. I have my eye on one that would look good holding my house numbers in the front yard....

Basically, the phrase was coined by the folks at Dive Xtras. You take a scooter and just a deco/bailout bottle slung on your side (no tank on the back) and by doing so you kinda look like a monkey when you motor through the water. You cook through the water cause there is less drag, and it is amazing fun!! There are even games to be played like monkey ball (I think it's called).

No back mounted gas or bcd. We just sling a 80 and go.

There is also a "capture the flag" type game where everyone has a "flag" sticking out of their mask strap and people try to collect the flags... once yours is taken, you're out and the last person with a flag wins. Obviously this is more of a tropical blue-water type game where you've got great vis.

All though that would be awesome in less vis with boundaries. Kind of like a hide and seek.
