Tacoma Equipment Dive on Saturday
Tacoma Equipment Dive on Saturday
Ben Price and I are doing a equipment test dive to approximately 100 ft in the Tacoma area on Saturday morning, if anyone has new Christmas equipment they want to test out at depth, feel free to join us. We'll be diving on 32% nitrox with standard AL80's.
The location has yet to be selected.

Re: Tacoma Equipment Dive on Saturday
Good rule of thumb. Dive no deeper than the cuft in your tank. 80 cuft = 80 foot dive.
Re: Tacoma Equipment Dive on Saturday
I just had my wife veto this equipment dive. Sorry. Thanks for the posts. Hope this reaches you.
Yes, 80's to 100 ft. You'd be surprised what a skinny man with an AL80 can do.

You guys really do need to buy some red and white paint and slap a dive flag on the side of your shop!

Welcome to the forum Shaker100. Nobody here is pompous or rude. Please remember to submit every dive plan to the local SCUBA police for their approval - without it you will surely DIE like the millions of other divers who do not fully conform to their standards.BASSMAN wrote:Well I say what many are thinking here.Shaker100 wrote:You'd be surprised what a skinny man with an AL80 can do.
If your going to get stupid on an aluminum 80...

The MOD on 32 is 111 FSW, so can't really go much beyond 100 FSW. The poster did say it was an equipment test dive, which could mean it it is intended to be a very short dive, and AL80s could handle that. And perhaps both divers are skinny too, as each diver would be sure the other has enough gas not only for themselves, but also for their buddy just in case something goes wrong.

Re: Tacoma Equipment Dive on Saturday
oh no, people are expressing their opinions about gas management! whatevah shall we do?!?
i know! let's start a contentious discussion about how people approach planning their dives, the sizes of the tanks they use, and how those who don't prescribe to one methodology or another are WRONG. it's been 3 whole months since we've done that! let's resurrect that dead horse one more time for the new users who have joined since then!
it doesn't matter that many methods are valid, and it's up to the individual diver to be smart and choose the techniques that work for them, right? it's all about infighting, and shouting down each other on an internet forum! to hell with imparting good information to the readers of the forum, it's about proving ourselves right!
whattaya say, guys? shall we start the new year off with a bang, with division and argument? just like old times! let's tussle!
*obviously this is full of sarcasm, for those of you who don't know me well.

ROFL- yeah, sometimes I just can't freaking believe it. It's like that movie "groundhog day" or something. I'm kind of shocked that 19 people haven't tried to cram a gas management seminar down the OPs throat yet.

People are getting yelled at for suggesting that maybe doing deep dives on small tanks ain't a smart move, Curtis. Apparently, we're not supposed to talk about gas management on this board anymore.Dashrynn wrote:LOUD NOISES!, I DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE YELLING ABOUT!

Oh I don't know about that Bob. I think it's that someone silly enough to announce that they are planning to go to 100 fsw with an AL80 should KNOW that they have opened themselves up to a lot of crap.
Doesn't anyone lurk anymore before posting?? Or perhaps reading old threads is too much work . . .

I didn't realize that driving around the PNW at my own expense, giving seminars for free constituted "cramming" ... that's gotta be just about the most insulting thing someone who I thought was a friend has ever told me.
I guess this would be a bad time to mention there's one coming up in Vancouver in two weeks ...
