Club dive! Club dive! Club dive! July 9th at Redondo!

Post by Penopolypants »

What: Club dive!
Where: Redondo! (click here for a map)
When? Saturday, July 9th, 9:00 a.m.!

It's getting close to our next club dive! Want to put some faces to some avatars? Need a buddy? Been wanting to try out some new gear? Know how to make thong underwear out of rice crispy treats? Then come to our next club dive! Everyone is welcome, from fresh out of open water to super trimix lemon wedge instructor. Non-diving peeps are welcome to come as shore support too!

I'll have the usual barbecue-in-a-subaru items: popup canopy, tables, grill, grilling accessories, plates, utensils, etc. Please bring a dish to share or something for the grill. Bags of chips? Oh yeah, bring 'em. Lots and lots of them. I also recommend a chair for lounging between dives. Please post here what food item you will be bringing.

Meet at 9-ish, and please come and see me if you need buddy assignments. Splash at 10-ish, then barbecue! Splash again after food. Snack on bits, and splash again for the super hard core.

If you’re willing to be a big buddy (more experienced diver) to a little buddy (less experienced diver), please let me know. If you’re willing to bring some extra gear for people to try out, please let me know that too.

Everyone meet at the large pay lot across from the pier - not the Salty's lot. Let’s go diving!
Come to the nerd side, we have pi!

Anyone from Oregon or SW Washington interested in carpooling? We could all hook up at the Salmon Creek Park and Ride in Vancouver, Washington, where I-5 and I-205 meet. 6am will get us to Redondo by 9am.

Yay! Looks like another great Club Dive in the works. I need a buddy assignment - a lemon wedge course director if possible.

Super trimix lemon wedge instructor is like the Chuck Norris of dive certifications. You don't even need gear - if you look at the water sternly it automatically turns into breathable gas out of fear and respect.

Blaiz I'll be your dive buddy.

I'll be there early pre-prepping my gear. Look for me at the front parking spot by the beach. Silver Hyundai Accent with scuba and anime stickers on the back part of my car.

I'll be there. Don't know yet if Chenari will make it, but if she doesn't, I'll have her gear available if somebody needs a loaner or some such. And I/we can volunteer to buddy up with someone if needed. This is gonna be fun!

My July 9th looks pretty open right now, I think I might be able to swing a Redondo dive and come meet some folks!

Hope they get them darn stairs fixed!

I will most likely be there, too, since I'm now back in action. I have gear I can bring. Long hose/bungied backup reg setup, jet fins, steel tanks in varying sizes (HP120, HP119, HP100), possibly more-all my spares are buried in storage, but I'm willing to dig if there's something specific someone's looking for. I have a spare BP/W rig, but it's not setup all the way, and it's a big ass Dive Rite rec wing. Serious taco time, and not the good kind.

I think Hannah will come, too, but she won't dive in a wetsuit unless it's in the 90s. Probably just shore support/scintillating conversation. :-)

I think it's likely I will be there, unless Kirk and I take off for the hinterlands. I'll know more tonight.

If I'm there, I can bring any part of a Hogarthian setup that someone wants to try -- backplate, regulator, canister light. I also have spare size L Jet fins, and a set of Dive Rite EXP padde fins. Just let me know what someone wants to borrow!

Oh, and I'd be delighted to be somebody's "big buddy". Haven't done nearly enough of that this year.
