Heading for Port Townsend

Post by Dusty2 »

I'm on my way back to PT Wed. and will dive Thursday through Sunday weather permitting. Mostly early am dives though.

Sorry but that's the way momma nature planed it this month.

I'll have a better feel by Thursday, but yeah provided work doesn't get in the way I would be able to make an 830 splash. PT is only about an hour from me. I could leave here by 0645 and be there by 0745 (although I HATE early dives, I know in this situation tides control the time, but otherwise I like splash times at like 11).

eliseaboo has that same problem and she only had a 5 min. drive! :smt064

Sunday will be more later but the marker buoy dive club is coming up so it will be crowded and the current isn't as good.

Iffin us old geezers can get up that early you younguns can. :neener:

Hnnng. This is what kills me. I could be down in SA mooching at his condo if I wasn't in FREAKING GRAD SCHOOL.

*sigh* Okay, I feel better now. Sort of.

Have fun diving without me.

Wait. I thought you weren't diving Thursday.

Friday would be a no-go: I have to teach so I probably shouldn't show up with mask lines and hood head...

Doesn't look like I will be making it up to PT due to wind. So I'll be looking for new plans in the morning!

we'll be at Sund Rock at 8-8:30. Good place to place with that new light.

It's windy here? Must just be hitting at the wrong direction for Pt Hudson? I don't see so much as a leaf moving outside right now...

Wouldn't ya just know it? Last night it was blowing pretty good and raining like heck. Got up this morning and it was flat calm. Sorry

Had a good 70 dive, no current and pretty decent viz and the water was flat calm!

Looks fabulous!

Sometimes the beat weather forecast is licking your finger and holding it up! :)

Wish I could have made it. Soon...

Yep it was an awesome dive day. Flat calm, zero current through the whole dive and decent viz with lots to see.

I hope you mean the index finger. Then again, sometimes you gotta do that to the weather...

In Port Townsend the best weather forecast is simply to look outside before donning your gear! and then it could change before you get into the water or worse yet AFTER you get in the water. More than once we have been down there in our drysuits and called the dive. :nutty:

I was there for one of those... Three foot waves, whitecaps, blowing offshore. The weather wouldn't have stopped me, it was the wind direction: if we had an emergency and had to surface away from shore... WHOOSH! Next stop, Seattle. Or the ferry prop.
