Illahee State Park
Illahee State Park
Hey there, I've never been to this dive site and there is nothing in the site listings so how about it guys. Tell us what it's like. currents, timing, what to see and how far from shore. All the pertinent stuff.

I've done it once (last Saturday).Dusty2 wrote:Hey there, I've never been to this dive site and there is nothing in the site listings so how about it guys. Tell us what it's like. currents, timing, what to see and how far from shore. All the pertinent stuff.
My research indicated that Illahee is not a current sensitive site which was consistent with my dive there. The entry is very easy, a short set of stairs and a flattish entrance. You don't get very deep...we went past the pilings out to 45/50 fsw or so...not a whole lot of point going further.
The pilings were great but this is wintertime....I imagine the dock gets busy in the summer. What is there to see? Mostly macro stuff....and tons of nudibranchs!
I made some vid of the site here: http://www.nwdiveclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=22440
Re: Illahee State Park
FWIW there is a dock there if you want to have a non-boat dive boat dive. I've never stayed there since it gets ferry wakes all the time and there are more attractive overnight options nearby.

Doesn't appear to be much at the park. I haven't dived either site.
