South Sound Diving Thursday Night

Post by kitsapdiver »

Let's go diving Thursday night, who is in? I would like to do Redondo south if possible? I could be crossing the Narrows bridge by 4:45 or so. Thus any additional travel time the site of choice.

Thanks,

Redondo sounds good to me. I can't say for sure if I'll make it yet, but I hope so!

And rumor has it that EJ is going to find us another place near Redondo with a better beer selection for post-dive fun :smt064 :partyman:

Will there be time for 2 dives at Redondo? I can be there sooner if anyone wants to meet.

I've got a cold, so I will have to sit this one out. And I've looked into the post-dive fun situation; Redondo is in a beer desert. Billy McHales is amazingly the best option. Perhaps when the weather gets nicer we can bring our own suds and grill out. :mmmbeer:

Hope to catch you all next week!

Hi EJ -- Sorry to hear you're sick, get better. Thanks for looking into the beer options. A friend of mine lives close by, and he couldn't come up with anything better either.

Looks like we'll have an enthusiastic crew this week -- great!

We've got some coming at 1, one at 5:15, and I can't likely show up til 6, maybe 5;30 if I really pushed it but can't promise (but I can now confirm I am in).

Will the 1pm folks be around til 5:15 or 6? Or should we just plan one group meet at 1, and another at around 6?

Change in plans, Brad and I will be there at 3:00 for a dive then hanging around for a second dive when everybody else shows up.

Cool. See you then! Looks like we have linedog and brad coming at 3, and myself and austin others coming at 6ish (a bit earlier if we can). Any other takers?

I am still out again, BUT I seem to see an opportunity to start a business selling great beers in the Redondo area. Unless the city makes it impossible to get liquor licenses that is. :stick: :partyman:

OH and seeing the amount of rain we have been having be careful on the entry at the steps. I am sure there is quite a bit of run off coming out there. Hopefully not as bad as the day there was a club dive.

Kirsten, Tim, and I dove Redondo last night, and its not the steps you have to worry about. Its the current created buy the outflow pipe! It has washed the sand away from the rocks below the steps, and with zero vis that close, it is a little hairy at best. We entered south of the boat ramp, and we should have exited there, or on the north of Saltys.
Good luck people, wish I were diving with you!

Tim and I dove with George last night. When we entered South of the boat ramp, viz looked questionable. Upon descent it opened up nicely.
Tim found a tiny Octo right off the bat.
It was a good 62 minutes and very cold but...
Getting out at the steps was a hazard. The outflow pipe was running hard and creating quite the current. Use caution or as Gdog has said, exit North of Saltys or South of the boat ramp...

Sorry guys, I'm out this week as well. Sounds like a good-sized crew will be there tonight, though.

With respect to the beer desert, while variety is nice there is nothing wrong with Billy McHale's
