Bubbles-n-Suds Oil Dock Dive!
Bubbles-n-Suds Oil Dock Dive!
Rumor has it that demolition is about to begin at the Mukilteo Oil Dock. Sadly, I think it's going to begin before crabbing season starts. This week might be the last opportunity for a Wednesday night B&S dive on the Oil Dock. All are welcome - come on out and join us if you can. No need to RSVP...just show up. If you're new to the group, we're a friendly bunch...just introduce yourself to someone and we'll make sure you meet everyone.

So... Where is the meet?
Re: Bubbles-n-Suds Oil Dock Dive!
To do this dive you would meet right behind the SilverCloud hotel. If you pull up, look for people standing behind their vehicles with the hatch open, those would be your people.

There is another entry point available that is v. new and has easier access to the oil dock. Did the dive from there the weekend before last. There is a new parking lot near the Boeing dock. You turn right of 5th, (the light before you get to the ferry dock) and proceed until just before the second bridge ( believe it is Mukilteo Lane) where you turn left and follow the road until you come to a crossing over the tracks. Follow the road to the right and you will find the parking area. Easy entry to walk or surface swim to the dock. You can see the parking lot on Google maps. There was even a porta-potty there.
Confidence is the feeling you have before you understand the situation.

Is that a city property? Or private for the train dock next to it? It would be a fine kayak launch spot too...

It is a public park. There were kayakers there when we were diving.
Would be a good idea to have a dive flag due the boaters. Several people were walking their dogs on the beach there too. There is a lot of sandy beach that is much easier to walk than the one between the Silver Cloud and oil dock.

Ill be scoping out the new entry before the meet time. If its the semi circular parking lot visable on Google maps, thete would be much more room for B&S vehicle parking.

Nice... The one time I took my 'yak up there, I had to launch from the park area south of the ferry dock, and then time my crossing of the ferry lane to get up to the oil dock. Not hard, but one more thing to deal with.Magoi wrote:It is a public park. There were kayakers there when we were diving.

The ocean is a lousy teacher. First you get a test, then the lesson.
