San Juans Charter

Post by Tangfish »

Hey Y'All,

Who's still doing dive charters up in the San Juans that I can recommend to a concerned mom who wants to send her young boys and husband out on a nice dive day in our beautiful San Juan islands? Is Cap'n Jackie still sailing like a pirate through those parts? Any other boat you guys would recommend as top notch and safety and service oriented?

Inquiring minds want to know, and appreciate any help.

Oh, she also asked for recommendations of boats that operate up in the Gulf Islands as well, so if anyone has recent good experiences up there please share the recommendation as well.

Gracias!

Lu Jac's Quest and yes, occasionally Banditos are the ones up there.
Hope you're well!

Personally, I haven't done the Gulf Islands in ages. It's a long trip, and there are no more live-aboards up there.

Ed from Sun Down Diving in Nanaimo looks like he goes to Gabriolla, and perhaps beyond. He only has a small boat but he's a super nice knowledgable guy, a good guy to hit Nanaimo with. http://www.sundowndiving.com

I haven't been, but they could try Andy Lamb's place, further South in the Gulf Islands: http://www.cedar-beach.com/

The Odgen Point Dive center guys in Victoria may also have some options (GB Church, McKenzie).

Wow, that sucks. It was such a convenient location, with a very friendly and helpful staff!

There was a death on one of their charters to Race Rocks a couple years ago. I believe the family sued them, and they were pretty much put out of business over it ...
