Keystone Jetty August 27

Post by SashimiFencer »

Howdy,

A little help please!

I'd like to dive Keystone Jetty and based on the current table downloaded from NOAA and the corrections from Fischnaller's book, it looks like slack current at Keystone should occur:

Slack before ebb: 10:07am
Slack before flood 4:17pm

Did I figure this out correctly? And based on the current/tide, August 27 should be a good day for the Jetty and piling?

The first time I went, I was a follower so didn't figure it out for myself and got a bit swept around...

Finally, anyone else interested in meeting up? Long gap between two dives but maybe little picnicking and reading in between dives would be fun.

See my recent comments on Keystone on the following thread

On that day, if you want a milder ride with the opportunity to hit the end of the jetty, I'd splash 3:45, allowing slack before flood to occur during a dive. If you have short dives, splash a little later.

Have fun! Not sure I can take you up on the invite, I'm sure somebody would though!

Hi, it looks like there will be moderate to strong current at Keystone that weekend. This will make timing a little more important. The Emerald Sea dive club will be there on Saturday the 26th, with a planned early dinner at the Greenbank Grille afterward. You and yours are certainly welcome to join us if you like. There are only four of us signed up for this event, so should be plenty of room. We'll be meeting at the site around noon and getting one dive in during the ebb, and a second prior to the afternoon slack.

The last time we were there, we found that slack before flood actually occurs about 30 minutes before the time predicted by the Admiralty Inlet current marker. And oddly enough, slack before ebb occurs 10-15 minutes after the prediction. So you can adjust your times accordingly for either day.
