Sund Rock Sunday 11/25/ 07

Post by sparky »

OK for those of you that can never seem to make it south to dive Netarts with me here is your chance. an old dive buddy Tony G and hopefully Lostinbrownsmead ( if he is over his cold by then ) and my self are planning to hit Sund Rock Sunday the 25th for a day of diving

The plan is to leave the house yep you guessed it real early and drive out to the hood Canal and do 3 or 4 dives at Sund Rock

Should be there some time around 7:30 or 8:00 am and gear up and see what kinds of mischief the critters of Sund Rock are getting them selfs in to. take a few pictures and maybe even count a few fish so we can add the numbers to the new PNW on line survey that Janna has told us all about . ( See Janna I know how to work in a plug ) I will even bring you a form I have a few left over from some where must have picked them up some where I just forget where

any one interested in making it a larger group would be more then welcome.
I have been bragging to Tony G about how you all were always so eager to dive so I told him I would post our dive plan here and see if any one was wiling to come out to meet up and dive so Come on gang don't make a fibber out of me

at least I'm not asking you to drive all the way down to Oregon to dive just out to the hood Canal.

Come on you know you want to any way
pack a sandwich of that left over Turkey and lets go swim off some of them extra pounds you know your going to put on

Real tempting to come out for the afternoon Sparky and do a couple dives. Let's see what happens around the house this week.

Keith you interested in going so that you remember what salt water looks and smells like?

Due to a cold, Tohy G is backing out. Jay also has a cold, but I want to get wet. Will travel to Seattle. Any takers? Who's diving when and where on Sunday, 11/25? If I have to I'll dive Sund Rock solo. Would rather dive with a buddy. Let me know.

Sparky, I can be at Sund at 1 PM after Church if you still want to head up there. Or you can come my direction and dive Three Tree or Redondo without paying an entry fee. Give me a buzz...

OK Gang heres the Plan in case any one else is thinking about diving the Hood Canal Sunday

I will be getting up to the hood Canal around 7 or 7:30 and doing a couple dives while I'm waiting for Tom to join me around 1 or 1:30 for a couple dives

so unless an one else is interested in diving the Sund Rock I think I will just do a couple Solo dives on the North wall and get some pictures and just hang out i general
I may just strap on my 80s and hang out in the shallows

My goal is to make at least 4 dives looks like I am going to be a bit busy at work in the next few weeks and this is the last weekend I know for sure I am going to have the time to dive

any one want to hang in the morning give me a call at home or on my cell
I listed them above

Dive Plans

Post by Scubak »

Sparkey,
You should have decent vis at the canal on Sun. Tim and I have been having our own dive marathon and have been racking on some serious bottom time. We dove Sund Rock today. There is a wolf eel pair on the south rock that has eggs...the vis is pretty cool. We saw Bob, Cheng and Penelope (I think a few others, but we didn't really intorduce ourselves)...
It was a great day. Surface temp was 43 and surface water was 45 with depth 48....Woo Hooo!!! Winter diving is here! Vis was at least 30ft.
Have fun...sorry to miss you again.

You should have gone over and said Hi to my houseguest Paul.
I would have been there but couldn't get the day off work.

Glad to hear you were out getting wet.

I'm Loving the South Sound. Sund Rock was my first dive in HC but I think I like that too!

ScubaK, I thought I heard you say your name and I wondered if it was you. I should have asked. I was one of the others! :salute: Boy! That water wwwaas cccold! (SHIVER!!) Those Weezles looked toasty!

Sparky, have a good time at Sund Rock. I wish I could join you but sadly I must work.

Colleen, It was nice to meet you. Sorry you couldn't join us. I hope Paul had a great time and a safe flight home.

Pez ~ Paul had a great time. I think we might get him out visiting again.
I really wanted to join you but I had to work.
Next time, I will have to call in sick and head out for some saltwater therapy.

It was great finally meeting you. Lets find some time and go diving together.
Will have to get Penelope to come along. I enjoyed diving with her on Wed night.

Thanks Colleen, it was fun diving with you too! Let's go diving again!

I'm glad Paul enjoyed himself in spite of my driving. And diving. New equipment is fun, but the transition...sheesh!

Sparky, we had a great time at Sund Rock. Viz was decent, but it was cold!! 46 on the surface, a bit warmer below the halocline. Brr!
Come to the nerd side, we have pi!

I have been real lucky in the 5 years I have been diving I have never gotten to cold , Although I must admit I am feeling the cold a bit more
ever sense i went to a dry suit I think I tend to run a little to little air in my suit I don't have a squeeze problem so much as I can feel the cooler temps more if that makes any sense to you

Hey!
I didn't even know Penopolypants was there! :dontknow:
I probably didn't recognise her in all of her dive gear or she was gone before I got there.

Sparky! Great to see you again, Lookin' fwd to diving with you soon or maybe have you come up with us to Sitka. :supz:

Hoover! It was nice to meet you I'm sure we will be meeting up at Three Tree or Redondo after I can get back in the water! :occasion5:

I had fun watching Bubbles and getting first hand dive reports.
Although it did nothing for my nitrogen deprived body.
That itch to get back in the water is stronger than ever! :-({|=
I hope to get wet in the beginning of January! :toimonster:
{Hope my dry suit gets wet, and I stay dry} \:D/

I would like to see that big Ling that Hoover saw :smt119 on the fishing trawler!(sp?)
Tom, Thanks for hauling me along with you, Thats one step closer to getting in the water!

Later, diver dudes!
