Three Tree 10-15, Surprised?

Post by Tom Nic »

Met JR for a couple of dives at TTN today... 70 minutes and 65 respectively. Boy was I cold!! Gotta scrape together the scuba units for a Weezle. My pics are here

The usual critters were out, and the signs of spring are starting to appear, with a bit more life than we see in the Winter. I was also kind of surprised that there wasn't one other diver there the whole morning. Where was everybody?

For some reason my posting link on Flickr isn't working, so I'll leave this report as is. Safe diving everyone!

And thanks to you as well John! It's a privilege to dive with you! Great times...

Here's a couple of pics of the large Alabaster's that we saw deeper (about 70fsw) than I usually see them.

I think I've seen other folks pics of this Red Irish Lord with the growth or parasite on it's eye. It "startled" as I came up to it, leading me to think it couldn't see me at first.

This Copper Rockfish has apparently taken up residence at the end of this pipe. I've photographed him or his twin sitting at the end of this pipe at least 4 different times over the last several months.

And last, but not least, it was fun to find this Diamondback Tritonia out and about... again, a pretty good sized one.

It was lots of fun diving with John while he was on his CCR. So much to learn! :prayer:

Although, John seriously needs to work on his gas consumption, as he used all of about 300 PSI for the entire dive. What a hoover! :la:

We'll let you MCCR vs ECCR divers have your throw down on another day! :violent1: :naka: ...all in good natured fun of course!

And it's easy as a photographer to be jealous of how close you can get to your subjects without scaring them away by the inevitable blast of bubbles! (Gotta breathe sooner or later) :axe:

I would have been jealous of the rediculous bottom time, but as I was freezing my arse off one hour plus was plenty!

300 psi? OMG, he's even worse than I feared.........Tom, you're lucky you survived that dive.......to say nothing of that twisted Scottish diver with the Canadian-made rebreather! (We both dive mCCRs, by the way- mine is the COPIS Meg, not the Apecs Meg. But I digress. The point is that Rawlings is a reckless hazard in the water, and he didn't want to buy a CCR made in the USA, because he is not patriotic.)

Sorry to blatantly highjack your thread, Tom!

Those were two wonderful dives! A GPO, wolf-eels, a Kelp Greenling guarding eggs, a few Rockfishes of various species, plus a lot of invertebrates crawling hither and yon. For a critter-guy such as myself both dives were sheer delights.

Now....back to ambushing Nailer.... :violent3:

HA! I knew that was simply another typically silly, ignorant bog-running Irishman subterfuge! No Irishman goes out of town on St. Patrick's Day when parties abound and the whisky will be flowin'!

Damn. My counter-intelligence was foiled. Time to go to plan "B" :

Calling homeland security and telling them about the crazed Scottsman hiding in the bushes with a rifle and a bunch of twigs glued to his head accross the street from my house.

Once again....I apologize to poor ol' Tom Nic for our blatant theft of his thread. Sorry, Tom....I promise I'll be good now.

And Nailer....I'm sorry about your neighbor. From that distance I thought it was you wearing a wig. Unfortunately, someone else will have to clean up the mess in the driveway....but I'm sure that you'll understand.

No worries about the thread hi-jack... :salute:

90% of the time the Thread Hi-Jacks are awesome, and typically some of the best / funnest part of this board! :supz: \:D/ :bounce: You couldn't pay for this stuff! :prayer:

And if anyone actually resents their particular thread being hi-jacked, (such as when you're selling your high priced scuba widget or talking about some obscure invertebrate and somebody injects sex or drinking into the conversation [funny how that seems to happen alot around here]) :violent1: usually you can just say so and you'll get many apologies and general groveling and the thread quickly gets back on topic. :crybaby:

Besides, when it's the moderators doing the Hi-Jack, who's going to complain!? :smt064 :violent3:

John- No sweat, I never liked that guy. Stop by for a wee nip later. :partyman:

Tom- sorry about the hijack- all in good fun! I think Sex and drinking come up in hijacks so much due to the younger demographic. Us older guys favor insults and drinking for our hijack topics- (mixed with sniper related threats, in some cases...)

I've heard of a "can of whoop-ass"...I just wondered if W.A. might also mean "Whale Ass."...in terms of the recent title changes for a few select members of the board. #-o :smt064
