I would like to ask everyone here at NWDC to join me in thanking Mr. Tom Nicodemus
for his generous service as a Moderator, and overall level-headed individual, over the years (I don't know exactly how many, but I think at least four!).
As the 33rd member of what started out as a very little dive club ("POD" in Sparky's words), Tom Nic is in many ways the embodiment of Northwest Dive Club. He started out as quite a n00b diver, signing up for Janna's Invertebrate ID class
with me, so that we could figure out what the heck we were looking at. Then, Tom started taking photos, while logging dive after dive with other oldtimers like Bassman, down in the South End. Today, Tom Nic's photos are some of my favorites, and I think many of you here will agree too, it's simply awesome to watch someone go from a casual picture snapper to someone whose photos you're proud to show to other people saying "my friend took this!"
Whether it's trying unsuccessfully to get him to throw down The Shocker™ with me and Rawlings in a photo, or hearing his bellowing singing in the morning (when I'm just creeping out of my vampire pit), I have found it an honor to know Tom Nic and to have his steady hand here as a NWDC Mod. He will be missed as a Mod, but is certainly not lost to us as a dive buddy.
Let's all give Mr. Nicodemus a round of applause and a proper sendoff into civilian life.
