PM outbox lagging

Over the past couple weeks it seems like some of my PM's are severely lagging. Sometimes it has been a couple hours. Right now I have a PM I sent Sunday (3 days ago) still sitting.
Any solution?

They aren't lagging. They will stay in your outbox until the recipient checks them.

Well that makes more sense then.
I guess I assumed it was more like my email where they go to the "outbox" until the next "batch" sends.
