Did you check with Bassman if he actually did send them?

Hello H20doctor,

You have received a new private message from "BASSMAN" to your account on "Northwest Dive Club" with the following subject:

Re: Thursday south sound diving 3/14

Its a dive plan thread.. I'm sure there are others on it..

Maybe it was an earlier PM ... I've gotten some email notifications recently for PM's that got sent to me several days earlier ...

Or, if someone sends a PM, then changes their mind and deletes it from their outbox, I don't think it shows up.

Happened to me once.

I always wondered what they wanted to say....

There's been a lot of delayed email notifications coming out of NWDC. It's probably an old notification that is referring to a pm you've already read.

i know on unix systems if you have temporary failures sending e-mail they'll get dropped in the mail queue on the server. there's supposed to be a process that cleans those out, but sometimes it'll be misconfigured and once its fixed it can suddenly result in months-old and years-old e-mails finally getting delivered. maybe with the recent instability something like that was broken (didn't start on a reboot or whatever) and its now fixed?

It seems to happen every few months to varying degrees.

It ain't just NWDC ... I got a text message a few weeks ago from someone I hadn't communicated with in quite some time. I read it and it didn't make any sense. Then I realized ... it was a message he claimed to have sent me in September ... and I just got it in mid-February ... that's gotta be some kind of record for an electronic message ...
