This would suck, if its true

Post by Norris »

If true...bummer...

http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/wan/1528094572.html

California Scuba diver needs your help. I came to Seattle to go to the underwater welding school, and on my way here, well I took the bus, (dumb of me) and greyhound told me they had no idea where my scuba gear was, they don't even know when or where it got lost.

In order for me to go to school I have to have a scuba gear, I have no money to buy not even fins. This is a nightmare for me, please help me out.

Can any body help me out?

thank you a million

or check with our friends at DIT and see if it matches any of their latest installment, or how much gear they are required to show up with on the first day...

Which school are you planning on attending?
What is you certification level right now?
What is your deepest fsw dive?

And here are his answers...

1. "commercial diving academy" (Not in Seattle [-X )

2."I am still open water." (Maybe he can stand on the corner of an off ramp with a sign...)

"Still open water certified,
Want to become an Underwater Welder,
Will work for Scuba Gear"

:blah: :blah: "I went to cozumel to become a diveMaster, I took all the classes and dives, and pay the instructor down in Cozumel, but he never paid padi." "I worked in cozumel as dive master for this instructor, even with out my certification, he always told me "don't worry, you'll get the card soon, and soon and nothing, so I left the Island and went back to california."
( :blah: :blah: :blah: )

3."210ft. deep" (What the...? :shootself: )

210 feet??????? And I suppose that was on an aluminum 80.

I can't help wondering if he added a zero to the actual number...

ahem, you know what would be fun. Come up with a grip of just crazy, weird, and off the wall gear that is safe, but just god-awful to look at. Invite him to a group dive just to make sure it all fits and have him lead us on a dive, using the skills that he has which allows him to dive over 200fsw with open water knowledge.
We will need pictures of course

Daughter is one of the instructors at DIT and a graduate.
Unless they have changed the program the students spent the first month (I believe) on land doing math, physics and such. They spend all day in a smelly (think ~ unwashed neoprene) portable, book learning. I don't think she stepped a foot on a barge till she was into her second month.
I could be wrong. She did her program several years ago and the mind gets fuzzy as I age.

Didn't know that an OW student could get their DM even in Cozumel.
I know if it was me and I paid an instructor for my DM and worked for it. I would be calling PADI and filing a HUGE complaint.

Where is the Commerical Diving Academy??? Never heard of it.
Found it funny that he isn't learning to be a commerical diver but simply an underwater welder.

Hey Grumpy, what's up with the "I'm going to inject some humor rather than criticize the happy people as time wasters" post? Whatever cheered you up I like it. Have another one. It's working. :highfive:
