Hey Sparky!

I remember you from nwdiver.com as well, and from here of course. Only got to actually dive with you once, I think, at Owen Beach on a cold winter day many years ago now. Really sorry to hear of your troubles. Nothing but good thoughts, vibes, ju-ju and prayers coming your way dude :smt051

Hang in there (both of you)

Sparky, I'm so sorry to hear about the health problems. We are all with you, brother.

My fondest "Sparky moment" was also at Hood Canal during one of the early club dives. Me, Nailer, Sparky, Bassman and I think Tom and Sparky were swimming out from shore - like, a decent distance out from shore, maybe 25 yards or so. And suddenly I smelled cigarette smoke and looked over and sure enough, Sparky had a smoke in his mouth while he was kicking out to the drop spot!

I usually don't like cigarette smoke but in that case it was so out of place and such a surprise that all I could do was laugh and laugh. Even underwater I was still thinking about it and laughing.

That was also the same dive that Bassman tried out his new underwater laser pointer on some dogfish and they were pissed off! Such a great weekend and many great memories. I'll never forget that dive.

I hope you remember ole buddy!

Hey yall this is Rose with an update. If I use fowl words please ignore. I got up this morning to call doctor back regarding test that were performed friday well as usual test came back fuckin normal. Not only are they not finding anything we have to wait 2 weeks for the specialist again. This is OSHU again so not sure when they will be able to fit him in. I am to the point to where they need to relize not to focus on just the brain. I don't know much about seizures nor anything else but where they hell did they get degrees from cuz i want one.   .... I feel like I know more then them and yet they dont care to hear what I got to say or notes that I have taken during these episodes. He is deffently not the same guy I met almost a year ago. He is furious about it all and it takes all I have to keep him calm. THanks for all prayers and please keep memories coming.. The more you give the more I can tell him. Sparky will be taken pics of the dive gear that he has remaining and posting. They finally gave meds for his headaches.....

Hello Northwest Dive Club members and Sparky's Friends,

This morning at 2 am Sparky had a seizure and woke me up thinking he was in hospital and he wanted pain meds his head hurts major bad. So I was kind of out of it and told him I pushed the button to call the nurse till I relized he thought he was in hospital when he screamed HEY calling the nurse. So when I relized that I woke up to give him his meds.

Then I got a lil bit of rest before gettin up at 7:30 am to get ready to go to doctors. He had lab work done and also a lumbar puncture . Right now he is suffering really bad today cuz the pain he is in. Continue the prayers and hopefully with lumbar puncture we can get answers. Thanks lots of Love from Rose and Sparky

P.S. One of first things doctor wanted to know about Sparky after he had mentioned that he was a diver and has no intrest in it any more he thought that sparky got bent. Sparky kinda thought that was funny.

#-o That can be so frustrating when you and the Doctors don't know the answers.
That's why they call it "Practicing Medicine"
I will say an extra prayer for you both, tonight!
May the good Lord help with the correct test to show the answers you seek and move forward with this.

God Bless, and keep your faith strong!

hugs to Rose and Sparky...

if you need a guy in Seattle, Dr. Ryder Gwinn is simply an amazing neurosurgeon... he's a top notch epilepsy guy and is a truly good and kind human to boot. He loves a good mystery as well, so he probably wouldn't let go of it till answers were found...

I just talked to Sparky. As of 4:00pm today he is at OHSU actually in a room. In the morning they are hooking him up to the brain monitors to see what is going on. He and Rose got there at 7:00 this morning and finally at 4:00 got checked in. He would love to have vistors, and will be there till Monday, (I think). Sparky is in room 8 on floor 4A.
Hopefully some answers will be found, and treatment and recovery will follow. Our friend needs all the prayers and support we can give.

We are home from the hospital they did not find any signs of seizures but want him to wait till spring time in order to dive again. He is having what is called staring spells and cronic migrains.. He seems to be doing a lil better... Thank you all for the support and prayers.. May GOD bless each and everyone of you this Christmas.......

Glad to hear he is doing better. Did the doctors still not find what is going on?

They say its due to his cronic migrains but are not really sure. But apparently he is not having seizures...

Is Sparky on something like Imitrex for the migranes?

I talked to Sparky and Rose on the phone today and we had a great conversation. He sounded very much like the old Sparky! yea!!! They apparently made progress on his condition and changed his meds. I understand that they have not found what is wrong yet, but they did eliminate some things. It was a very enjoyable phone call.
