I'm sorry, but 875 yards from the shore? How'd she get there?

Pure speculation on my part, but I watch the gray whales feed in front of our house and leave scooped out places in the sand which are a good mile from the water's edge at low tide. Where this whale was found, they have about a 6 meter range in tide - pretty large. The photo looks like it could be marsh grass, and flat. Any better explanation that doesn't include aliens?

The article goes on to explain that the whale was found dead in the water, offshore, not inshore. #-o

'It is sad. It was in shallow water of about 1.2m (4ft) to 1.6m (5.25ft), making contact with the bottom,'' Mr Gibson said.

''This was about 800m offshore.

''When it gets in that situation it rolls onto its side and it can cover its blow hole.''
