Break in!

Post by cardiver »

Thwarted a mid day break in at my house today...... It really pisses me off that he screwed up the door so bad that it took me ten seconds to get it open.....

Whoa! Did you scare him off? Or do you need a hand with a special "midnight 6 gill baiting dive?"

Thwarted can mean so many things. In this case I hope it means the perp required medical attention. Glad you're safe and didn't lose anything more than a door frame.

I wish, Josh! When I went to the garage he had his hand through the window opening and was trying the deadbolt. I couldn't see his face through that "rain glass" and I couldn't get the damn door to open for about five seconds. By that time hes was in his POS gold Chevy Malibu and flying down the alley.....

Hehe.

I'm sorry Ron, that's an awful thing to have happen. I'm glad you got to stop it though.

Wow Ron, Glad the low life wasn't armed. These gang bangers would rather shoot than run.

Glad your safe and nothing got stolen. I'd definitely consider replacing that windowed door with something more burglar resistant. Or put a piece of lexan over it.

I'm definitely going with a solid door this time. It was pathetically easy for this guy to pop the entire window out of its frame.......

What I should have done is let him gain entry and then double tap him with 10mm's........

I woulda shot through the glass... "his silhouette looked like he had a knife in his hand.. I was in fear for my life".

Glad you didn't suffer any losses aside from a messed up door. What an a-hole.

Are you getting the door dusted?

Enumclaw PD came out and took pics.......
They also suggested that I nail the door shut until I could replace it. (-:

this IS a castle clause state.. my 10mm G20 would have been outta the question as my EDC is my .40cal G23 and my Glock 20 is next to my Sig on my night-stand.. two feet from my PS90 and Spas 12 ;-)

so, your local PD came out and did... exactly what you did. LOL. That's.. useful? THIS is why I don't miss being LE, there was so very little that we could EVER do in any situation..

have shovel, will travel.

Ron, sorry to hear about this. Sucks.
I hope he/they don't come back.
But if so, I'll gladly be on your jury and vote you innocent.

Dang, Ron, sorry to hear about that busted door. Good thing you were home at all - could have been much worse otherwise.

You are right as for Castle Clause, but you are wrong in how its acknowledged. Just reaching in is not grounds for use of deadly force under the Castle Doctrine. I wont go into the details, its public searchable. Every gun owner should understand it, and realize that Wa state is not your friend in the enforcement of it.

But for a no worries, problem taken care of, the lime and shovel avoids the legal stuff entirely. :)
(and future law suits, etc).

Kind of. Not nearly as iron-clad as true castle doctrine states, but definitely above average (no requirement to retreat being the most important aspect IMHO).

We like the same firearms! I fell in love with the Spas 12 at the FBI Academy SWAT school back in 1986 and switched from a 1911 Gold Cup to a Glock in 1989.....
I keep trying to explain to friends that using deadly force in the situation that I had would not be justified. If he had gained entry I would have put him down but as it was he just broke the door......
