Maritime Documentation Society to recieve award
As some of you know, my dive buddies and I founded a non-profit a while back, dedicated to shipwreck research and documentation- The Maritime Documentation Society.
I just put up an announcement on our new Facebook Page that reads:
"We would like to take the opportunity to announce that the Maritime Documentation Society is going to recieve an aw...ard from The Washington state Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP)! The award is in recognition of the extensive work done by Dan Warter, Chris Borgen, Eric Foreman, Rob Wilson, and Paul Hangarter have done in conjunction with the Center For Wooden Boats, documenting and filming the shipwrecks in Lake Union. The award will be presented in Olympia on May 8th. Although they don't seem to have made the announcement yet, the official page is here:
http://www.dahp.wa.gov/shpo-awards-nomination-form"
Pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
I should point out that I had *nothing* to do with the Lake Union Survey, but I will gladly take credit for the work my friends did.

Josh: It is great that your team gets some recognition for their work. Don't worry about taking credit. Several Nobel laureates in the sciences seized the credit for others' work. You are in great company.

Congratulations Guys!
Chris Borgen is one guy that doesn't advertise what he does, he lets the work advertise itself. To me, that's greatness in humility. Kudos, once again to everybody involved.

This is very cool and I'm particularly pleased that this project has been a collaboration with MOHI and CWB. I like the idea that the information collected will be seen outside of the relativity small wreck diving community.

You nailed it. This is the whole idea behind MDS. To share our sunken heritage beyond the diving community.
Good job on the FB page Josh. Now we have to get off our a$$es and put up some pics and project info.

Dan Warter, Erik Foreman, and myself headed to the capitol building today for the awards ceremony. It was an honor to recieve this award and we all had a great time. On our way to the capitol we recieved notification that we will be honored with another award for the Lake Union project by King County Executive Dow Constantine. Its been fun to see everything come together. Anyways here's a couple pictures from today.
