Im a boat Owner...

Post by H20doctor »

Well I bought a boat, with a co owner.. Coulterboy.. I fell for this old style and design the min I saw the add on cragslist.. He dropped the price from 800.00 to 600.00 after a week.. I sched a time to go look at it last sun, with Tom.. Then after starting up the engine, and giving it a once over, Tom talked him down to 500.00.. Ha Ha Ha.. So he and I spent 250.00 ea..
So now we have to get things prepped and ready for tanks and divers..

After you do us a favor and pick up the boat for us. :supz: I'm out of town for a week. Hoping to dive Yellowstone Lake on Sunday.

I figured, for $250.00 on my part, hell, this boat is pays off after about 5 dives. You pay about $80.00 per 2 tank dive on a charter boat. After that, I don't care if the boat sinks. I hope not. H20Doctor has fallen in love with it. This is my second boat, and I think it's pretty good for the price. Hell, I was gonna low ball the owner and pay $400.00 for it, but the good side in me said, naaahhh! , offer the guy $500.00 , which he gladly accepted.

looks like the SS Minnow ....scaled down version. nice thing about that price is you can add platform and ladder without worrying about the cosmetics to much. How long is it and what HP motor ??

Color Scheme is almost a dive flag..... I think you got some good karma looking down on ya !

That anchor is for sandy bottoms only Just FYI

Whoa! You just kind of snuck that one by us Tom - sounds awesome! Make sure you do a dive report!

What are the vital stats on the boat? Hard to tell, but four divers seems a bit tight - maybe 3 divers and a driver? Draw straws for who stays topside on dive #1? Should be lots of fun!

On Don-B's boat, 14-16ft, 2 divers was pretty tight.

Is that an old Skagit? We used to waterski from a pink one when I was a kid. We'd ski until we ran out of gas, then use the waterskis to paddle the boat back to the ramp.

If the boat has cable steering, be sure to inspect the cables and pulley's for wear. One of the more common points of failure in those old boats is snapping the steering cables when trying to come up on plane with a heavy load.

Congratulations!

Have fun, You need about 15 to 20 feet of chain on that anchor and at least 2 times the depth in rope out for it to work properly

Chris,

That bright light you're seeing to the North is my smile! :angelblue:

I'm happy for you bro, you need a boat. I have to wonder though, does a scooter and drysout combo count as a life raft? If so, you're set.

Congratulations to both of you.

Head for the Possession Pt ferry. There is a buoy on the wreck, so you don't even need your anchor. You might start with three people on board. One to stay topside. If all three want to dive, rotate topside duty.

Welcome to the club. They say, the two happiest days in the life of a boater are the day they buy a boat and the day they sell it. He he he. I have bought and sold a couple boats and I still prefer buying. Love the lines of that one.

Has WSA put a buoy on that wreck?

FYI its not really do-able in ling season IMHO, at least not on a weekend, the whole bar is just swarming with lures and hooks.
