Well this was a nice find in Port Townsend, a Hutchinson-style bottle with the stopper still inside. It says "Cascade Soda Works" and "J.M.", a soda company in Bellingham around the turn of the century. Somewhat rare bottle? Can't find many other images of one.

Yes!!! Nice finds. Love the Rainier bottle. And "Hale's Honey of Horehound and Tar"?? Ha, fantastic. Talk about snake oil.

Ah, um, if you were willing to reveal the location, maybe PM me? No worries either way... :burntchef:

I have a small collection of old Coke bottles. My favorite is a 1923 Christmas bottle. The U.S. Patent offices happened to be opened that day, so Coca-Cola had a limited run of Christmas bottles made.

Latest finds near Port Townsend:

- Fox "Clam Tea" bottle (really?), Seattle on the back.
fox_clam_tea.jpg
- Humphrey's Homeopathic Veterinarian Medicine
humphreys.jpg
- Pacific and Puget Sound Soda Works, Washington Territory Hutchinson bottle, this is a real gem.
puget_sound_soda.jpg
- T & S Port Townsend Hutchinson soda bottle. Finally, something from Port Townsend! It's had a rough life, a bit chipped. I can't find anything on the web about this company or even see another similar bottle. Next stop maybe the Historical Society...

Cool find! Pretty tough one! Post WT like 1890 but more desirable than the TS with the slug plate This one is id’d as wa0038 on Hutchbook.com which is Ron Fowler’s site There’s one on display in the basement of the PT antique mall that was found when they dug the basement for the mall back in the early 1990s probably about $200 in value based on condition

That WT is a well known bottle and quite collectible. It’s on my list of fantasy finds someday. If I found that bottle it probably spit out my regulator and rocket to the surface screening!!!

60 South finds all the goodies in PT .. nice
I just wanted to say this thread has grown over the years and is now 11 pages !!!
Unfortunately the bottle expert that I found and agreed to help and identify bottles is long gone... So if you post a bottle and need help from this thread, it may not be possible...
Try to use the internet , or ebay , for identification...

My latest treasures from Port Townsend. These were all found using my DPV and going way, way offshore. (Close to a half mile or so). No an easy solo DPV dive and very tidally planned. ( is that a word?). Thank goodness for big batteries, overfilled tanks, nitrox, and near perfect compass skills. I love this place! Who wants to come and explore and find bottles? You just need to learn to ignore all the “bio-chatter” and the bottles will appear.

Me, me!

Uh, I don't know about going a half mile off shore: I think my DPV, tank, and bladder would run out long before then. But a few hundred yards, you betcha!

..."bio-chatter"... I get it.

Anyone have any idea about this bottle. It would be interesting to know anything at all. :)

Found a few years ago in the San Juans.

There are still amazing historical bottles to be found if you know where to look in Port T. You need to filter out all
of that silly “bio chatter” and channel the 1800s and bottles will come into focus. I know, I know, what a stupid hobby…collecting underwater garbage, but when you find a good one, the memory of that dive is forever etched into the glass and when you see your treasures displayed you instantly travel back to that lonely and dark night when your came across your treasure made of glass. Who needs a log book. I have my dive log displayed on a shelf .

Pretty quiet on the bottle thread lately. Let's dig it up again!

Latest finds in Port Townsend bay... The Pacific & Puget Sound Soda bottle is kinda rare, and the Ozomulsion is like snake oil from the turn of the century.

Here are some recent finds near my home in White Salmon, WA. Turns out I don’t need to always drive to PT to find the bottles. They are here in the Columbia River. I welcome all divers who want to come here and explore..
