Night Photography
The clear skies and new moon made for some fantastic night photography this weekend. I had to do a ton of research and hours of driving to get these shots. These are my very first night photographs, but I was excited to share the shots with my fellow photographers. I know they aren't diving related, but I just had to share.
The first photo was a practice shot, taken about 30 minutes south of my house in the Graham/Eatonville area. I wanted to to if I could even pull this photography off before venturing out. As you can see, there is a ton of light pollution from Tacoma. So I knew I had to get away from the city for better results.
This was taken last night at Lake Crescent. I scouted out places for hours in the daylight before I found a place I could get the stars and light the water. Unfortunately, I could not capture the Milky Way in the photo or I think it would have been extra special. Again, you can still see light pollution from Port Angeles.
As we headed home from the previous picture, I pulled over next to Lake Crescent to capture a wonderful shot of the Milky Way. Pretty excited with the results of this one. I am excited to try this photography more and more, but it is extremely time consuming :-)
Hope you all have a good week of diving, I will be traveling on business, so I may not be a be to dive until early October. Be safe out there.

Very Cool!
In my experience it is hard to not get a lot of noise in those types of photos. Great job.
I like the 2nd. Is that the milky way on the right? Did you put your dive light in the water?

Yeah, that is the Milky Way on the right, but it was weak to the south and there was some light pollution. For the water, I put the camera on a timer, quickly climbed the hill, and "painted" the water with my light. Took several shots to get one I liked.YellowEye wrote:Very Cool!

Re: Night Photography
Love these, especially the Lake shot which is quite unique
Re: Night Photography
Great results, dude! Astrophotography is one of those more "challenging" areas, and yours turned out really good... Personally, I think the skyglow from the cities, sometimes *adds* to a picture rather than spoiling it. I see nothing wrong with how yours ended up
