Wet suit for loan?

Post by YellowEye »

Howdy all
I'll be heading to sunny Cozumel soon. I don't do much tropical diving, and don't have a wetsuit. Anybody have one I could possibly borrow? I'm 6'3" and I hear a 3mm is a good thickness for that locale

Thank you!

Haha, I've heard the "there are two types of wetsuit wearers" adage. Sorry if this is TMI, but I can easily hold a 1.5 hr dive in the sound, and have done 3hr+ dives in the sound with no pee-valve, so I promise I will be good on the suit :)

Eric
I have a 3-5 that I use in warm water. when are you going? If you don't find one closer to you then we can see if we can work out a day to get it to you.

Sebastian has a 7mm xcel wetsuit, long and a 3 mm shorty. Both in large.

I definitely recommend a full length 3mm or better for Cozumel. I managed to do it with a shorty a couple years ago, but only lasted the week by adding a 1mm hooded vest on the third day, plus wearing a windbreaker on the boat ride back. Even with warmer water temps, it's nice to have full length coverage for protection against small stingy things.
Conditions can vary quite a bit depending on the prevailing wind. The boat ride from most hotels down to the marine park at the south end of the island is an hour or so. It's generally warm enough on the way down, but can turn chilly on the way back without a windbreaker.
I was with a group staying at Scuba Club, and took advantage of the dive shop across the street to improve my thermal protection. The 1mm hooded vest has accompanied me on my warm water trips since then.

Thanks for the info and offers guys!

Scubamamacita, thanks for the offer, but yeah I think I'll need a full 3 mil. Hope you guys are well!

Capt Jack -- was there an offer there, or did I get pif-boxed? :)

Dale, hope you're well. Do you want to join us for a dive maybe at Keystone and maybe I can see if it fits?

I leave the week of Feb 6.
