I used to celebrate my birthdays with a dive. As a former diver, I celebrated my 76th by snorkeling in Panama. This first shot is an attempt at over/under with my little camera. You can see the jungle in the background.

The reef offered many of my old tropical friends: Moorish idols, sergeant majors, parrotfish, yellowtails, coronet fish, and even an octopus.

The trip included seeking various wildlife in Costa Rica and Panama. I describe myself as a whale and seabird enthusiast (not an expert). I took way too many pictures of the appropriately named Magnificent Frigatebird, a favorite seabird.

The spotted dolphin was a new species for me.

I also saw four species of monkey, including this white faced monkey.

We explored Lake Gatun, half way through the Panama Canal. While the jungle sported more monkeys and amazing birds, the lake itself had too many reptiles, snakes and crocs, for me to consider snorkeling in it. This big fellow rested on the shore.

I saw much more. I've slowed with age, but haven't stopped.

Happy to be alive.
