Bassman's going under the Knife!

Post by BASSMAN »

Well today is the day.
I will be having back surgery on my L-5 disc to remove/ fix the herniation that has my sciatica nerve blocked off on my right leg.

I guess I will have to stay dry for the next few or ten weeks ](*,)
I had to cancle some awsome diving since I hurt my back, but I'm sure to be back in the water as soon as my doc(Who happens to be a diver) gives me the "Go"!
I'm looking fwd to getting rid of this pain, so please pray :prayer: that "All goes well, with a speedy recovery."

Thanks NWDC!
I'll be reading the forums and looking at all the incredible pictures. As I recover.

Hey Bassman..

Here's hopeing you a speedy recovery.. Has your doc, who happens to be a diver, explained how to help your back through the diving withdrawl symptoms that are sure to be happening soon? You might want to check on that..

Take care and best wishes!!

Hope all goes well. I'm sure it will. I've had to recover from knee surgeries 3 times since I started diving and it really sucks. But then it's that much better when you get in the water again.
Speedy recovery.

Just got back from the St. Joe's... Bassman is out of surgery and in recovery, and apparently everything went well, although it was a much tougher & longer surgery than first anticipated with lots of scar tissue bonded to the nerves. Good news is that the relief should be even greater, and there is no question that this surgery was not optional.

Thanks for all your good wishes and for your prayers. I know that Keith and his family appreciate it.

And now the real question, does watching diving DVD's help or hinder the process of enduring the time of recovery before you are able to dive again?!?!?

Hey now, I've already offered to babysit there...

Although I must admit it's been weird. Haven't dove since my 200th dive over a week ago, and you've been getting medical procedures, and starting new jobs, Bassman's had surgery and I'm buddyless... (Can you hear the whine?!) :-({|= It feels vaguely sleazy but I'm ready to start trolling the internet for dive buddy's! Help! ](*,) :toimonster:

I'll have my new BC back from scubatoys on Friday, Tom. Maybe we can dive Sat or Sun evening. I can also get your fin back to you.

Get well soon Keith! There are lots of places that need divers!

I know how great it feels to wake up without pain! I had 2 discs replaced in my neck and the first thing I noticed was the absence of pain! What a wonderful feeling! :partyman:

Thanks Ron! If it's not too late Saturday that would be great. This Sunday won't work at all... Give me a call...

We all missed you on the Bandito boat dive Saturday, but now it makes sense why you weren't there.

Take care of yourself! Good healing energy coming your way from my heart to yours!

Yeah, between the new gig and MY disc issues it's been a while since I've been wet too - almost 10 days!!! I'll be at DFTC on Sunday though - it'll be refreshing to splash again.

We'll get together again soon, I'm sure.

Heal quickly.
I have a buddy who had similar surgery.
His only comment was why did he wait so long to be pain free.
He was back diving in no time....
Take it slow and listen to your Doc....

We can come over after our dives and let you smell and touch our salty wet gear if you think it would help. :supz:

Sounds like your tanks are being taken care of...
Do you have any other cool gear that needs to get wet while your mending??
