Okay, I hate to burst your bubbles, but here's how it works:

Adding any two digit numbers and then subtracting the result from the original number can only result in a certain set of numbers. All of those numbers end up having the same symbol (that changes each time you play the game). They throw in other symbols on the remaining numbers in the number line so that it seems 'random', but you will always end up with one of the numbers that results in the specific symbol that they use for the 'answer'. Just try it twice with two different numbers, the resulting numbers will always bear the same symbol despite the fact that the symbol varies. Mine were 9 and 72.

I would have never figured it out either. That's still a pretty cool trick for those of us that are numerically challenged. It got one symbol wrong though but thats because my math sucks.
