WTB Ikelite Housing (6148.01 TTL)

I recently acquired a refurbished Canon Powershot SX10 IS and I would like to find a housing for it. Unfortunately, Ikelite was the only manufacturer who produced a housing (Model Number 6148.01 TTL) for this model and the line has been discontinued. If anyone out there has an Ikelite 6148.01 TTL that is taking up space in their dive locker and they'd like to part with it, please contact me via PM. I know it's a long shot, but I thought it was worth reaching out to the local community.

Thank you!

Ross,

I would check on ebay for one. I ran into a similar problem when I was looking for a housing for my old camera and I had to go on ebay to even find anyone that had the housing.

Thank you for the suggestion Kyle. I've been checking online (including ebay) and the only listing I could find was on Price Grabber for $840:
http://cameras.pricegrabber.com/underwa ... 56759.html

but I thought that was a little steep for an older camera (in fact it's more scuba units than I've spent on any other piece of dive equipment!). I know underwater photography isn't cheap and I get the impression that Ikelite didn't make too many of these housings, however, the camera didn't cost me anything so I guess I may have to go this route if I want to upgrde my photo kit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe there's someone out there with a used one gathering dust that they might want to part with...

When a camera / housing goes "obsolete" as in "no longer manufactured" they CAN get very expensive - depends on the seller and situation.

If you can wait and look something may pop up. You might post you are looking for that housing on other online forums. Sometimes that will trigger a response from someone who owns one and was looking to change or upgrade and your post can push them to take the jump.

From what I've seen there is only one seller out there so they've set the price pretty high. I posted a similar message on ScubaBoard (where I've been a registered user since 2009 but only have one post...) in their photography classified section but if there are other public forums where photography gear is traded that you're familiar with I am open to suggestions! Thank you

When I flooded my Casio (5 years old) I had to sit on my wallet for awhile until a reasonable price came up for a replacement. Units for sale were either trashed to 2-4x what I wanted.
You have a less extensively produced product to you either eat the asking price or be willing to wait until a 'sensible' price comes up....if ever.
With a bit of work you can do a Craigslist search for an area broader than locally. That is what worked for me.
eBay was frustrating-trash or overpriced.
