Re: Ruston Way Walls-SixGill Course Marker

Post by requiemofthedeep »

Last night I had a run in with a Six Gill along the NW end of Course Marker wall. I was wondering if anyone has heard of six gills here before?

Thanks,
Alex

I was caught by surprise so the video is terrible.

Hi!

Congrats on the sighting! So cool!

I haven't heard of any there, though I know there have been sightings at Owen's Beach and other places in Tacoma. You can see a registry of sightings on sixgillsharks.org. You should also file your sighting there!

Thanks.

I just saw a video of a fisherman hooking a Six gill from Les Davis Pier. So there must some sharks in the Commencement Bay area.

I've dove that whole wall system so many times from LSW > Kirbys wall and back, and never seen a 6 gill there. Seen 6 6 gills in Hood Canal, and 2 at Three Tree, but never there

- I got a good squirt in my mouth
- I would imagine that there would be a large amount of involuntary gagging
- I don't know about you but I'm not into swallowing it
