any interest in a gas management seminar?

Post by Grateful Diver »

All the talk about gas planning in the Narc'd thread got me thinking that if there's interest in a gas management seminar I can set one up at Tacoma Scuba for sometime in October.

Reply here if you're interested ... as always, it's free ...

Pssst... not only is this a great class that will make you a safer diver, but it's fun too... and FREE!!!

Seriously, if there is anything you can do to get to this class, please do so... you'll be really glad you did. Bob doesn't suck as an instructor either.

Ditto. I'm going to have to be in Boise for several days in October, so later in the month would be better for me at least.

Bob,

Derrick and I got a big dose of gas management in our Essentials class from bdub, but please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you faciliate this at TS. I support you 100%. In fact, if you end up having room, I may just go as a refresher since we head to Maui--the land of AL80's--in November.

Why this topic isn't covered in detail in AOW classes is beyond me. Seriously people . . . a FREE seminar by an amazing teacher on this VITAL information is a no-brainer in my book. Don't think twice.

How does Thursday, October 21 sound for a Tacoma date?

Nicole, I'd love to head back down to 7 Seas ... y'all were wonderful hosts last time, and there was a great turnout. Let's work out a time that's convenient for y'all and I'll make it happen ...

Bob
My wife and I also went through this a couple times with bdub, and I think it is an extremely valuable thing to have ingrained in your head for every dive. To go through it again, could only help to solidify the math. We will try to make one of these, either Vancouver or Tacoma. Definitely Tacoma on a fri or thurs, so we can dive after!

I would commit to a Tacoma class on a weekend, and to one anytime at 7 Seas (that's only about an hour away, vs the four hours to Tacoma).

Thanks, Bob, and Nicole!

From Scubaboard on the thread about the recent fatality on the Yukon in San Diego:
I was on the Humboldt yesterday during the mishap. It was great dive conditions. 30 ft of viz, almost no surge. The bottom was at 110ft. The diver that died was using an aluminum 80 on air and was diving by himself. When his body was recovered he had no air left in his tank. The diver seemed intent on photography and was last seen some feet away from the Yukon looking at something in the sand.
Someone else posted that a DAN analysis found that 41% of diving fatalities involve divers running out of gas, which seems about right.
