Noodles, Pretzels and The Good Diver

Post by ArcticDiver »

Right off I announce this is an unabashedly evangelical post. If you don't want to be exposed to new and maybe radical ideas stop now before you are recruited!

Good divers have excellent body control. They are able to almost instinctively move muscles of their body to put themselves where they want when they want. Some divers gain this ability over time by frequent, sometimes almost daily diving. Others who need to travel to dive or who only dive infrequently have a more difficult time developing body control skills.

Enter the lowly Noodle. It is "merely" a long tube of foam. For this introduction we will use it in its' Pretzel configuration. Tie the Noodle into a Pretzel. Then, while standing in chest deep water push the Noodle under water and sit on it. While balancing on the Noodle Pretzel perform a wide variety of exercises similar to what would be done on a Balance Ball. Cross your legs with one ankle on top of the other thigh just superior of the patella. Do it 12 times. Reverse legs. Balance with arms in the water. Balance with arms out of the water. Scull from one end of the pool to the other. All this and others without falling, or even tipping the Noodle Pretzel.

Then raise and lower your body while seated on the Noodle Pretzel and only by using lung volume.

Repeat until all movements and any others you can dream up are instinctive and the Noodle Pretzel becomes as stable as a living room recliner.

One warning to the chromophobes: Noodle don't come in black. Neon colors are the norm. But, pale pink can be found.
The only box you have to think outside of is the one you build around yourself.
