Incredible dives!!! I counted many more than 50 Ratfish though-I'd say more than 100 (as I reported on my survey). We also saw a huge Salmon, the first adult Salmon I've ever seen while diving.

40-foot vis at Four Mile Barges last night ... down on the wrecks. Above 30 feet it's starting to schmutz up again ... at 10 feet it was downright murky (5 to 10 feet of vis).

Get out there and DIVE this week-end ... this hot weather's starting to wake up the plankton again. By this time next week I think we'll be back to full-on bloom ...

Les Davis this morning (7/30) at abt 10 AM was 25', a bit schmutzy but nice for Les Davis. We missed the ebbing tide, but did manage to catch the very last of it and a bit of slack which accounted for the nice viz.

We watched a solid wall of 0' viz wash in from shore after the dive. It was amazing. I'll post pics later, but the viz went from 25' to 0' (at least from our perspective on the surface) in about 5 to 10 minutes.

I've found with this heat, that's generally crud that sits about 3-6 feet. below that ti clears up rather well!

Viz at Cove 2 yesterday wasn't very good. There was a nearly opaque layer in the first ten feet, and then it "opened up" to about 15 feet down to 50. I talked to a couple of Portland divers who went deeper, and they said it didn't improve much below that.

My friend Joe from Boise called me a little while ago to gloat about the 40-50' viz at Les Davis this morning.

Cove 2 last night -- 10 feet or so down to 50, where it "opened up" to 15. Very opaque surface layer the last four feet or so.

I was down at Les with my kids at around 2pm today and the tide was in. We could see the bottom from the parking lot all the way out to the drop off.
