That's some seriously sweet gear. Anybody know how that Salvo 12W LED is?
bob's got one. it's a nice little light, but doesn't quite have the same punch as the HID, imo. but it's small and still pretty bright.

Might be a good tropical light...

That was my own posting for better and mostly worse (I got laid off and need the cash). :huge: Everything has sold except for the dubs and the regs. Ill take the regs down another 50 bucks for anyone interstested. If not Ill go pawn them off for a few dollars at the dive shop.

How much do shops typically charge to inspect a tank like that?

i don't know anything about andy's but i loved my USIA drysuit as a starter suit. it was the same model as that one except with the back zipper, not front. if the seals, boots and zipper are in good condition on the USIA, and it fits, i'd say go for it.

The dry glove system on the Usia looks to be an OS systems setup. I have that one, and it works nicely. Real pain in the butt to get the gloves off, but it wears in eventually. Now.. it wears in eventually, which means if you don't keep the rings waxed (yes, waxed, not greased), it will leak... I suppose you could dry greasing it.. Let me know how that works for ya. 0]

Sweet! Congrats! I scored a couple 95's a month or so ago. I stayed vigilant, and I also made it to the guys storage unit 45 minutes after he posted the ad. 0]

Don't these PST tanks need some EXTRA SPECIAL CARE to pass hydro?

Yes, there is a pre-stretching procedure which PST has provided all the hydro companies which is to be done when hydroing their tanks. Trouble is, they don't all remember/know to do it. If they don't do it, it may likely fail... but might be fine. There are some places which have much higher pass-rates than others. If I was hydroing a PST tank, I'd sure ask people who've been around a while what their experience has been with various hydro places and PST tanks.

I asked the guy at everett carbonics whether he sees many tank failures. He told me that the only steel tanks he's ever seen fail a hydro are the occasional old steel72 from the 70s.

Drysuit deal, advice

Post by gutholmj »

My wife and I will be doing a drysuit class this thursday. For the price, this http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/spo/1411898012.html looks like a great chance to give diving dry a try and perhaps gain some experience. The suit is a OS Systems Nautilus. Does it seem like a good deal? We will be taking a look at it tomorrow. What should we be looking for in terms of serviceability and fit? What kinds of things would be total deal breakers such as, more than 3" too tall. shoe size more than 1" too big, etc. It seems like a broken zipper would be a deal breaker. Is buying used without having any more experience other than trying on a new suit in a store a totally stupid ides? Thanks for any advise.

I got my Bare dry suit off craigslist and it was a great deal... its the best suit! I was actually going to buy the suit special order to have it just as this guy was selling it. With all that said, I have heard and seen some really raw deals made online. If you dont know exactly what you are looking at or what you are looking for, I would be very cautious. I got REALLY lucky with mine. I would have the person meet you at a shop and let the shop look it over while you try it on and check the fit. Just my advice but :mmmbeer: who am I?
