looking for the impossible

Post by Pinkpadigal »

I am looking for a valve. This valve exists because I have one. I need to find another. It is a 7/8 UNF yoke valve. It is for a tank needing the 7/8" (small hole) opening. These are impossible to find; I have looked on EBay and called just about anyone I knew might have one, without any luck. ](*,)

If any of you have one, I will buy it from you, or trade it for a new DIN valve.

Thank you!!!!

Yeah, already talked to them. They were the only ones who knew what I needed, yet they did not have one, and didn't know where for me to look. ](*,)

you could try posting it in the want to buy section on the deco stop.

They don't exist. 7/8" necked tanks are 3500psi exemption series tanks (made by PST or much more rarely Asahi) and that is just over the threshold for use with a yoke per DOT rules at the time those tanks were made. The only 7/8" valves available are with 300bar DIN outlets. TDL sells them along with NESS (as you probably know).

I agree with Richard. Thermo is still making 7/8" DIN valves, but has never made a yoke valve that size. You should be able to easily find a 300 Bar DIN valve for a 7/8" tank, but I don't even think they make a convertable valve (200 Bar Pro Valves are all 3/4").

:angryblue: Never mind. My tech gave me the wrong information. I thought I needed the small hole, but I don't. 3/4 inch will be fine.

Thanks everyone for your input...

Can you get a manifold for 7/8"? I checked NESS and they just have the single valves.

Yes, I think the slanted Genesis manifolds were 7/8 inch.

Yes, TDS has 7/8" Thermo manifolds with normal 90deg outlets too. They are pretty expensive.

I'm surprised by all this talk of 3500psi exemption tanks, they haven't been made in almost a decade.
