Lakewood Heroes

Post by MrsDiverBob »

Just wanted to pass along some information, all of the Washington Ram Restaurants (including CI Shenanigans and Sonrisa) will be donating 15% of food sales this Sunday, Dec. 13 to the families of the 4 officers. Stop by and grab something to eat!

Mods, sorry if I broke any rules here.... feel free to make changes as you deem necessary! :arsespank:

For this worthy cause, we'll look the other way. Of course, people can always donate to the fund directly:

Yesterday I was at the Dome from 7am to 6:45pm, my wife and I got to watch and pay our respects for the entire service. Very moving.

Yeah. We haven't really talked about it on this site, but the recent trend of cop killings around here makes me sick. I really, really hope this isn't the start some new way for scumbags to make a name for themselves. Factor in the Fort Hood shootings, and it almost seems like that crazy 2012 junk might be like a self-fullfilling prophecy. I want "normal" back.

To be honest, I'm kind of glad we haven't talked about it. I'm a little tired of crazy. In the 35 years my dad and uncle were Seattle PD, none of my family worried about them making home at the end of the shift. Cops have always been targets, but this new "targeting" is something altogether different, and I find it very unsettling. Not a day goes by that my little brother being out on the road doesn't cross my mind....

I want "normal" back too, but I'm afraid we're so far past it, we'll have to find a new definition.

Agreed. I'd prefer not to get into it here either. I imagine we're all generally on the same wave length, and there are some folks here who'd get very passionate very quickly if a discussion went the wrong way. This is a place of retreat for me.

As for Papa John's - I called the Snoqualmie location who said that despite seriously stocking up on supplies, they ran out of ingredients YESTERDAY at 7pm... just in Snoqualmie (a.k.a. the "boonies"). They're extending it through Friday at that location. I'm not sure about the others.

Josh is right too - a donation to LPIG or the Washington LEM (Law Enforcement Memorial) would be uber-cool along with a pizza.

Of course, if you want something in return besides feeling good, you can come see a great rock show next Thursday at the EMP. Big benefit show, ALL money taken in goes to the families...

Nice! I might see if I can drag Erica out of the house for this.

There's another show on Saturday at the Snoqualmie Casino being put on by KISW. Duff McKagan's "Loaded" and Queensryche will both be performing with all proceeds going to the LPIG to be given to the families. :metal: :norris:

The Experience Music Project... next to the Space Needle. I believe it's been around since the World's Fair.

The Experience Music Project/Science Fiction Museum at the Seattle Center. Frank Gehry designed the building, which is supposed to look like one of Hendrix's smashed guitars.

Here's a link to their calendar with some more info about the show.

Oh....that place! And no, it has not been here since the World's Fair. Paul Allen was just a little boy back then!

My mistake - I thought EMP was created at the same time the Needle was. EMP was opened in 2000.

Sorry, I seem to be contributing to a hijack...so, are any of the other Papa Murphy's extending this like Snoqualmie?

The Southcenter one has extended at least until today-we're getting lunch for work there, today.

I have no idea. I'd encourage you to call your local Papa John's and ask them. The shortage seemed to be quite wide-spread as Howard mentioned.
