Sevengill Sharks in SoCal - made the news!

Post by nwscubamom »

Friend and fellow REEF surveyor Mike Bear has been tracking Sevengill shark sightings and has been getting the attention of scientists - and now some media attention as well! Very cool stuff:

Not being messed with at all! While most sharks have 5 gills, our Sixgill and the Sevengills are obviously pretty cool. Both are members of the Cowshark Family (Hexanchidae). You can find a lot of info here on Mike's website:

Hey!
http://www.nbcsandiego.com/station/as-s ... Diego.html

Pictured in the video is Steve Murvine "sddiverdude" who visited Puget Sound last summer while temporarily assigned to the Navel Ship Yard in Bremerton. During his visit he joined NWDC. Not sure if he is active here or not but if so... Scuba Steve! What do you have to say for yourself?
