Where do YOU dive when there's low viz?

Post by girldiver »

Ok, a shot in the dark (um...literally) here people...

I have frequently used Three Tree North for dives when our algae decides to bloom...however, does anyone have any other dive sites they suggest (Bellingham to Olympia welcome...) for the algae season?

Shore sites I assume?
Sunrise has consisently better vis than the surroundings IMHO
also
Keystone and place which is mostly macro anyway

Are you talking about for classes? Sometimes the shallow sites in Lake Washington are better than the Sound during heavy blooms.

I sure wouldn't want to be teaching classes in what we dove in last night!

ya, i'll second the lake washington recommendation... i know another instructor who actually find that vis is consistent enough in recreational depths to do classes.

For OW classes? How? As soon as you kneel on the bottom the vis goes to 0'.

Viz in the Coves goes close to zero if you kneel on the bottom, too . . .

I take it vis has not been improving at all. Last weekend Josh and I did Edmonds UWP and it was about 4 feet.

Viz was about 2' at 3 Tree today, and that was at 110'!
