World's Record Longest Dive

Post by Sockmonkey »

I ran across this site for these dudes who are trying the World's Longest Scuba Dive soon. I guess they're going to stay down for 40 hours? A few news articles google news are easier to read than their website. Most interesting are the Apollo Bio-filters they'll be using to stave off the cotton mouth.

However I found on the googles this guy who stayed in a tank filled with mineral water for 8 days. I guess there are two records. One for a controlled environment and the other for open water? At least the other two are doing it for charity. Tank guy is an adventure consultant and motivational speaker.

I'm too ADD for that.

How about going for a speed/distance record on OC by diving the narrows on the largest exchange of the year with a Cuda, doubles, and a stage(s). :driving: (and a live boat of course) Have the live boat tow a fish off a boom for you to follow as a depth/directional reference.

For me it was a deco dive with a required 30 mins of freakin' deco:

Too much coffee before the dive and I didn't hook-up either a P-valve or use Depends.
Yep! That was one looong dive, I tells ya!

For me, that was a record "longest" dive.

Lmao! I was gonna say that the dive I had last year with a flooded dry suit and 45 minutes of deco was about the longest one of my life- I had to pee, my mask kept flooding, and I was so freaking cold....it felt like a week underwater.

I wonder what the record is for a cold water dive.

I have buddies who have spent a lot more time than I. I have done 10.5 hrs up here with the radials testing them, more on a hat. 8 of that was working with 2 other surface supplied dives. the last 2.5 was playing chess with my buddie to run out the time on the scrubbers to see how they preform.

Do not forget commercial divers can spend a lot of time in the water. Time is Money. Not uncommon for them to spend 12 or 14 hrs a day 6 days a week in the water. The sport diving community does not think about things like that most of the time.

Then take in what you would call el-cheepoo sat divers that do not use chambers but all in the water sat diving. Were they go days collecting high quality black coral in deep water. That gets real crazy.

Speaking of scuba related world records... nutballs in the keys are poised to set the underwater record for scuba ironing... for some reason.

Later this month I plan to rock climb a 100' vertical cliff while swiffering. I hope to break (make) the world record for extreme swiffering. I still have not decided if I'll be using a wet or dry swiffer. Stay tuned.
