scuba gods must be unhappy

Post by spatman »

it certainly seems like there has been a rash of lost gear, stolen gear, flooded gear, broken gear, etc lately...

so who pissed off Poseidon and what are we going to do to appease him?

I don't have an answer, but, yeah. I've had more than my share of expensive problems lately....

a ten-piece crispy chicken sacrifice would be my standard answer, but i'm not sure whether Poseidon would prefer Long John Silver's or something

One axiom I coined is this: "The less you dive, the more your gear will break." It's been especially true for me this summer. I've been joking about Poseidon needing a human sacrifice or something. After my aborted dive yesterday, I'm not joking any more.

I can think of a few people the need some sacrificing..... I say we line them up and make them walk the plank.

Josh, if you aren't feeling like I am bad luck charm, let me know when you want to get back out.

Appeasement never works. I'm going to get medusa's head and finish this once and for all. Oh, and don't look her in the eyes.

I tried to appease the Gods of entropy awhile back by cleaning out my garage and doing a bunch of gear maintenance, and I got karmically repaid by having my car broken into...

I seem to have this sphere of chaos surrounding me lately... I tried to help out on a support dive and wound up not getting into the water because the dive teams had a mud dive and called it early...

I sacrificed a favorite mask last week at Three Tree N. Not exspensive, it just worked well.

Oooo.... +1 for this theory, and I am a major offender.

January I did my usual 8-12 dives, then every month except my Bonaire & Kauai trip I've only done one or two dives. I will promptly begin to make amends by diving like a madman this month!

The gods continue their unhappiness ... had to cut my OW class short today when I suffered some equipment failures. First my can light crapped out on me (no notion why ... worked fine after the dive), then my BCD inflator decided to stick open ... which proved to be "interesting" halfway through OW dive #4 with two students ...

Decided at that point not to wait for strike 3, thumbed the dive and told the students we'll try again tomorrow ...

Could be my fault. I've been skewing the average from "wet" to "dry" these past few months. I'll try to remedy this, just need to find a few available virgins....
