Hello all,
My name is Isaac,
I'm a fairly new diver from Portland looking to explore the Sound.
I've been certified for many years but have only dove in Hawaii. I have about 20 dives logged, with my maximum depth at 102'. Having just geared up for cold water, I am eager to get wet. I am very excited about diving some ship wrecks, and look forward to some underwater photography at some point.
Any advice, tips, comments, insults, jibs, directions, or counsel is greatly appreciated.
At the moment I am trying to pick a site for a gear check-buoyancy adjustment-test dive.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Isaac

Welcome aboard.
If you are in the south sound area, on the puget sound side is Sunnyside beach, near Steilacoom.
On the Hood Canal side, I would suggest Sund Rock, Hoodsport n Dive is the local shop.
Both sites are beginner friendly, with low to no current.

Welcome, Isaac. The first thing you'll need to do is get some cold water gear sorted out. What are you using for an exposure suit?
Re: Hello Northwest Dive Club
welcome, isaac. i'm down in portland, too, so if you have any questions about local shops or anything else, feel free to PM me.
look forward to seeing you around.

Hello Isaac,
Welcome to NWDC. I'm here in PDX as well. For gear check / practice dives I would recommend Les Davis Marine Park in Tacoma or, if you'd like to stay closer to home, you can head out to Lake Merwin just east of Woodland, WA. Not much to see there but it's only about an hour away.
I think you'll really like our cold water diving. All the gear can be a bit daunting at first but once you get it sorted out it's no problem. There's a lot to see and explore here. Feel free to PM with any questions or if you'd like to come along for some diving.

I've got a Harvey's neoprene drysuit, along with a hood, and gloves.

Hey All,
Thanks for the warm reception, tips, and insights.
I have that warm fuzzy feeling, it;s exactly unlike a leaky drysuit.
Glad to be aboard, and I look forward to meeting you all on future aquatic adventures.
Cheers
Ike
