Ok, now that tickets are bought, who do I dive with on Kauai? Anybody know who to go with or where to dive, (recommended hidden spots )? Or is anybody else going to be in Kauai the end of March, and wanna go diving, huh, huh.
Aloha, Doug
Kauai
Re: Kauai
Fathom Five and Aquatic Adventures are both good. Most of the diving there is from shore. I definitely recommend making the trek to Ni'ihau to dive with the monk seals. Bring sunblock and earplugs for the boat ride!
Re: Kauai
When are you going? Unfortunately the trek to Niihau can't happen during the Winter. May is about the earliest they go... I missed it by a week. :-(
Bubbles below did a great job for Bassman and I, making the best out of marginal dive conditions.
Good luck! There's some fantastic diving there if you hit the conditions right.

Re: Kauai
Thanks for the info. We are going march 28 through April 5. I have heard that Ni'ihau is probably out. So shorediving it is, so now who wants to fly to Hawaii and go shore diving?????
Thanks, Doug
Thanks, Doug

Re: Kauai
We went the latter part of April last year. Whether you can shore dive will depend on the weather. We hit a stretch of weather with strong offshore swells, AND strong winds, going in the OPPOSITE direction. Ugh... it only let up a bit on the last two days and we were able to get out on a couple a few boat dives... WAY worth it.

Re: Kauai
With the flooding no wonder no one is stepping up to buy tickets.
Brown waster from rain run off. Today they are forecasting 50' faces on the North Shore of Oahu due to the latest in a series of large swells coming across the Pacific. Probably won't make 50' but will be high enough for the "Eddie" surfing championship which requires Big Waves.
Lots of sour words from divers on both Kauai and O'ahu.

If the rain ever stops.
By then the pesky, for us divers, swells will be gone but the rain? Not as bad as a few years back. But still.....
I'm betting on July or August for my next trip.
