Possible HI Tsunami?

Post by Sockmonkey »

I'm fine... we live at 2500 ft elevation. I have a sat phone and a generator just in case.

Aloha hard,

Glad to hear you're that far above the coast. Hope all goes well for you.

First waves are being reported in Shemya and Western Aleutians with amplitudes of only 1/2 meter.

Sounds like OR, CA and WA are in a more precarious place than we are.

On a side bar - About an hour ago someone inadverntly got the Advisory wixed up with the warning and thought enundation(sp.) was eminent. That unknown someone set off the warning sirens in Seward and caused a bit of a panic there.

Might make for some good surfing though

I'm in San Francisco, right on the water. Water is expected to hit the high tide mark, but that's about it.

On a side note, we were doing a "Tiger" cruise with our son on the USS Halsey from Hawaii to San Diego. The waves hit us about midnight, sailors were tossed from there racks, stuff was flung about for awhile. Got no sleep at all that night.
