Got robbed...but they left the gear.
So I got home last night to find that my house was robbed. The bastard/s stole my laptop and a ton of other important stuff. It sucks. I feel really horrible.
There is a bright side though: they walked past the rebreather, the can lights, regs, gates monstrosity, drysuit ect... No interest. Thank God for small favors, eh?
Anyway, this is your monthly reminder to check insurance and put a tracking app on your mobile devices. It can happen to you.
Steps down off soapbox.

Man....I'm SO sorry to hear this! I hope that you are able to recover at least part of what was lost.

Thanks boy-o's. They got some prints off a window but I'm pretty sure my laptop's on its way to Russia (no offense Vlad!) or India (Namaste MacBook). Either way I'm focusing on the silver lining: I still get to dive this weekend!

I'm so sorry, that's terrible! Diving should provide some good therapy!

sorry to hear about the theft, dude. it's an awful feeling to find out you've been robbed.
Re: Got robbed...but they left the gear.
Chris. Home theft really leaves you feeling invaded, and some stolen items just can't be replaced. More insurance doesn't help that. You have our sympathy. I'd like to buy you a cup of coffee next time we meet at a dive site. How about your video setup? Do you still have that?

Sad. Some things money can't buy nor replace.

Right. Like some things my dad left me before he passed and a watch that my mom gave me for my wedding. It's not the monetary value I'm hurt over.Jan K wrote:Sad. Some things money can't buy nor replace.

I really feel for you. I've been there and I know the insurance can replace the big ticket items but it's the items that represent a piece of your life that hurt most and can never be replaced. Thank god no one was home and there was no one hurt.
Do you have a separate rider for the CCR and associated gear? That's a huge investment that can be picked up and carried away.

I am sorry to hear about the family heirlooms but admit it the rest of the stuff just distracted you from going diving. Call it a sign they left the dive gear and go diving.

Sorry to see that. The invaded feeling is terrible. Loss of memory items is even worse.
Hope you either had your laptop encrypted or nothing on it. For the rest I hope you were well insured with a good company.

Thanks all for your kind words and maybe more importantly for letting me vent. I am less likely to strangle poor random people on my block over the next 48 hours. Picking up. Moving on.

Bastards! But at least they were dumb bastards. Glad to hear that you still have your dive gear.
