La Paz BCS

Post by inflex »

After much agonizing over the destination for Thanksgiving week trip, we finally decided on La Paz.

It was the end of the season, but still good diving all around. Water was a bit colder than expected at 71-76. Vis wasn't great for the area as high winds churned up the bottom. Rough seas caused by the wind also made for less comfortable "up time" and caused us to miss some opportunities to dive with hammerheads. I was in a full 5mm and hood, but I think I will bring my drysuit next time.

Here's a few highlights in pictures.

+1 on the great shots! :partydance:

What kind of camera / strobes are you using?
When was the last time you did something for the first time?

There are some beautiful shots there, and I recognized some of the sites/wrecks. Where did you encounter the Whale Shark? That must have really been a highlight of the trip!

Whale Shark?
Where do you see this mentioned in this thread, or see it in a picture?
I'm slightly confused, but that's easy for me, on some topics.

Look at his link to his other photos and scroll through them....

I forget what the site with the whalesharks is called. It's a bay about 30 minutes west of La Paz by boat. Whalesharks congregate there as they migrate, as the bay provides a source of food for them. We actually saw quite a few different ones.

I use a 5d mkii with a couple of YS-250 strobes.
