Another Dive Shop Gone

The other day, while in my "local LDS" I heard that Northwest Sport Divers had closed but I just now confirmed it in a phone call with Matthew. I knew things were tough for NWSD but I didn't expect it to close without some notice or something.

Anyway, Thank You Matthew for your years of great service and hard work.

I bought a lot of stuff there, although not so much recently. I'm very saddened by this news.

Ditto here. That's where I bought my BP, STA, etc... When I talked to Matt, he said he's really taking a hit on the shop. He's just concentrating on his catering business for now.

This bums me out. NWSD has done more for me than any other shop I've ever dealt with from LA to Anacortes.

I'm going to miss the shop, and Matthew.

He never gave me a single moment's grief about bringing in stuff I'd bought elsewhere to service, VIP, or whatever.

He never hassled me once about coming to him with something I wanted and an internet quote, and asking him to match it. He either did, or I bought elsewhere, and either way, we were still friends.

He came in one Sunday morning, long before the shop was supposed to be open, and filled 21 tanks for me for a special event.

He had a shop where you could get 32% fills "while you wait".

It is a really tremendous loss to the north end of the megalopolis, to lose this shop. If we don't support shops this good, I guess we can't be too irritated when the ones that are left don't offer that kind of service.

Thanks for the kind words everyone, just got back from a weekend of diving, so as I will answer many questions I received, yes I still am diving!! In fact I plan on diving more than before, and more instructing. Joining the workforce and receiving a paycheck and a few days off a week is going to be a change, but I will always appreciate the support NWSD was awarded from the dive community. Diving in the Puget Sound is the best so hit me up to go get it!!
