Happy Birthday Curt!
While it's generally acknowledged that wetsuit divers are a shade or two crazier than the rest of us, we're all special idiots for voluntarily diving in dark, cold, water! - scottsax

Thanks to all of you. Especially Morningdiverbob and Kimo who surprised me for my birthday. Years ago my friend Steve, a retired marine biologist, flew to Baja at age 90 and spent a couple of weeks on a research boat. Upon his return, his telling of the story included the hardships: a small boat, no A/C, sleeping on deck, insects... When a listener asked, "Steve, why would you do something like that?", old Steve quipped, "I wanted to learn a lot of things I forgot." I relate this because it describes me. There are important lessons I need to relearn all of the time. Right now I realize that it is not about the diving, but being with good people. Diving is one way I do that. In addition to my B-day dive buddies, who are the finest people, there are many on the board I have dived with and more I just want to meet because I feel I know them from their postings. As my wife said to me yesterday, "I think it is time I said those words to you. You are so lucky."

When I was drinking my MaiTai on the beach at Waikiki I just KNEW I was forgetting something. Now I know.
