What in the heck is this stuff?

So I've been seeing this stuff, whatever it is all over the place lately:


I don't know if it's eggs, a sponge of some sort, or what. What in the heck is it?

And I think this is a stout shrimp, but I dunno.

I think the first stuff is a mushroom tunicate. I think your right on the shrimp but have a heck of a time with those little critters so don't take that too seriously.

It's a deep blade shrimp, Spirontocaris prionota
