Baby nudis on a lion's mane?

The lion's mane was still moving/trying to swim but was on the ground covered by these little nudis....Were they eating it???

Alki Cove 2 today, great vis, lot's of fish and nudis, and a gpo!

I've seen it too at Cove 2 a couple of years ago. But I think that may be an Egg Yolk Jelly.

Yes it is an egg yoke jelly and those are opalescent nudibranchs. Opalescent's are opportunistic feeders and will eat just about anything. One of the few nudibranchs that are not limited to a certain prey. Egg yokes have a very short lifespan and end up feeding allot of critters. A large number end up being devoured by Metridium Anemones who seem to love them.

Lions manes are much larger and have a brown canopy that looks like a old style parachute. They too end up on the bottom being devoured by many different critters.

Lion Mane Octopus Hole Last Weekend ...got a cool video of a HUGE one on a night dive also last weekend.
