Just found one off of Nantucket as well.

This week seems to be dedicated to U-Boat news! Like Blitz said above, it looks like they've located the wreck of the U-550 off Nantucket. This "river boat", though, is even MORE intriguing to me!

I hear the "river boat" is far too short to be any type of U boat.

So what did you actually "hear"? What's the length?Joshua Smith wrote:John Rawlings wrote:This week seems to be dedicated to U-Boat news! Like Blitz said above, it looks like they've located the wreck of the U-550 off Nantucket. This "river boat", though, is even MORE intriguing to me!

There were numerous U-Boat variations of different lengths, including extremely small boats with only a handful of crew, (it's doubtful that these would have been able to make it across the Atlantic on their own, however). Even if this proves not to be a U-Boat, it's a possible wreck of something...and for divers in that area that's a LOT better than nothing at all.

Re: U-Boat in Canada.
There's a thread about this on TDS. Apparently, the wreck in the river is +/- 100 shorter than the most likely u boats....John Rawlings wrote:So what did you actually "hear"?Joshua Smith wrote:John Rawlings wrote:This week seems to be dedicated to U-Boat news! I am curious what this will end up being. Maybe a river tug or something used in the dam construction that they mention. Hopefully not just a big ass log!

Oh, I don't know. Have you priced reclaimed lumber lately? Folks are making pretty good livings from re-floating sunken logs for lumber.
The only box you have to think outside of is the one you build around yourself.
